Scanning the day’s broadsheet

Parked on the bench

Both arms outstretched

Gauging his losses on Wall Street

A fragile buffer from the disdain

Of passers by

Taking a short cut

Through the park

He sits and reads

Scanning faces he’ll never meet

The anonymity is reciprocated
