That’s me, leo AND dragon. A fierce combination, right? Although I don’t live my life guided by astrology, I do identify with a lot of the traits assigned to my signs. On the topic of life path’s and traits being foretold, check out Dan Millman’s Life Purpose Calculator if that kind of thing interests you. The link gives a bit of info, but if you want to read more, plug the number and ‘life purpose’ into your search engine- be prepared to go ‘wow!’ I have the book and I was blown away by the eerily spot on descriptions of not only myself, but countless friends and family members.

The opening line of the tanka was inspired by the most amazing thing I’ve learnt in recent days: at the moment of human conception, following the fireworks of the horizontal dance (one of a number of ways to conceive), the event is marked by tiny sparks flying in celebration of the successful creation of a zygote (years before ‘it’ becomes a tantrum throwing 23 month old). The light emitted is caused by the surge of calcium when sperm enters egg, triggering the release of some of the egg’s reserve of zinc. The released zinc then binds to small *molecules and together, they emit a fluorescence which was detected by Scientists at Chicago’s Northwestern University in the past week, using fluorescence microscopy. The phenomena had previously been observed in mice. The light of life! It has huge implications for IVF and leaves open (in my mind) endless questions about creation, life and the connectedness and meaning of it all.

*My reading has not yet shed light on what those small molecules are, so any readers who may enlighten us, please do so in the comments.

      1. Oh my goodness. When I put in my birth date the description totally matched what my instinct has been feeling and telling me. About my purpose. That was amazing. Thanks! 🙂

  1. Wow! What a post!
I feel much like you about Astrology I think. I see so much that relates although I don’t live my life by it. I am a Scorpio Dragon, and so is my Mum and also my twin granddaughters – that’s a powerful amount of Dragons to have in one family group! Let alone Scorpios!
What a fascinating discovery at the moment of conception – magical! Thank you so much for the link.
Now I’m off to check out Dan Millman, oh and Leo Dragons.

    1. Thanks WD! Miss E’s poem was great, and this post wouldn’t have happened without her inspiring prompt words. Tell her I said thanks 😊 That is a lot of dragons! Hurrah for dragons! I’d love to know your thoughts on Dan Millman. Mine is 36/9 btw.

      1. I knew his name rang a bell – Peaceful Warrior – I enjoyed reading that many years ago. The Life Purpose calculation is extraordinary – those things often seem to offer so useful insights – I’m a 21/3 = cooperation, creativity and expression – Yep sounds about right!!!
I looked up members of my family too – very helpful!

      2. Yes, it is extraordinary! I love the fact that no life path number is good or bad- each has it’s own strengths and gifts to share with the world, as we all do. I think it is about time I revisit the book…

  2. Interesting! Yes, I also don’t give a lot of credit to astrology but do feel that I have a lot of the same traits my astrological sign dictates. Either way, another great piece here. Really gives the feeling of fireworks and shooting stars.

      1. Ha! So glad you checked it out. It is amazing hey? So much to learn too from the things it talks about to shift into the positive of your path e.g. mine is about working on intuition, self doubt and perfectionist ideals. Ha, yes- from following your blog I can see there’d be a 3 and 1 in there. I probably don’t know you well enough to know what 4 refers to. As I said somewhere else in the comments, I love that whatever number you look at just confirms that anyone can bring great qualities into the world, and I’d also add- it also highlights that we all have our struggles and issues to work through- after all, that is what this journey is about…

Thanks for reading and getting back to me on what you found 🙂

        I’m 36/9

      1. 29/11
        2: Cooperation
        9: Integrity
        1: Creativity (bolded)
        1: Creativity

Those on the 29/11 life path are here to combine creative energy with higher principles and integrity, finding ways to apply their creativity in service of others, aligned with higher wisdom.
